Singapore’s Bosch Rexroth has installed a Konecranes crane through the manufacturer’s Rentall plan.

Global engineering company Bosch Rexroth has installed a new Konecranes CXT crane at its Singapore facility’s hydraulics workshop, to improve safety and efficiency.

The 5 ton overhead crane was installed under Konecranes’s Rentall programme, currently available in markets across the world, which allows companies to utilise premium cranes without a large up-front cost, said Konecranes. All maintenance, including Konecranes’s Truconnect remote monitoring, is also included in the monthly fee.

The crane will be used to lift and position large hydraulic components such as drives, motors and pumps in the service workshop.

Peter Peh, head of department for central functions at Bosch Rexroth Pte, said: “Konecranes’ Rentall programme allowed us to install the crane we needed—with minimal upfront cost— from a brand known for its quality, and we could eliminate asset depreciation too. It worked very well for our business.

“Konecranes is a trusted brand, with a reputation for safety, reliability and competitiveness, so to be able to use their latest technologies, and have all maintenance included in the agreement were major advantages for us.”

Bosch Rexroth is one of the world’s leading suppliers of drive and control technologies, including hydraulics, electric drive and control technology, gear technology and linear motion and assembly technology. The company has more than 32,000 employees across more than 80 countries worldwide.

The Singapore business has been in operation since 1977, and recently collaborated with several Singaporean government agencies to develop a regional training centre, which will be the first in Singapore to offer a standardised training programme on Industry 4.0. Bosch Rexroth will collaborate with companies to test advanced manufacturing concepts to support the implantation of Industry 4.0 solutions.

“Having this programme in place removes the upfront financial burden associated with buying a new crane outright, which frees up company funds to invest in innovations like the training centre,” said Peh.
